The Pledge Tree

Making positive commitments for the environment

In early January 2020 Climate Action East Linton together with the Scouts planted a rowan tree in the field by Phantassie Doocot. It was planted to give hope for the years ahead, and an opportunity for people to write down any pledges/New Year resolutions that they might have: 'Pledging for our World'. Pledges were written on leaves made from bark and hung from the small rowan tree, and are still there for anyone to go and take a look at.  The tree is right next to the bench, which provides an opportunity for people to take a break, sit, rest and reflect.

Many thanks to Patricia from Phantassie who suggested a position where the tree could be planted; to Rachel Gent who lovingly created the plaque and helped prepare the soil; the Scouts for planting, and Ali MacDougall for providing the tree.
