Members of CAEL at The Big One in London

East Linton was well represented in April when fifteen folk from Climate Action East Linton attended The Big One in London. The Big One event was calling for an end to the Fossil Fuel era, with four days of marches, pickets at Government departments, speeches, uplifting samba bands and a multitude of activities including citizens assemblies. With 200 organisations working together, it drew a diverse crowd of over 60,000 people from all walks of life, from Lord Sentamu and a multitude of bishops and priests, to doctors, scientists, teachers, gardeners, IT workers, nurses, parents, grandparents, elders, children and many, many more. Over the four days there wasn’t a single arrest, and instead there were many positive interactions with the police and others. An inspiring, uplifting and unforgettable experience for those involved, with wonderful interactions, taking part in a moment in history.
